A collaboration of scientists led by Professor Jane Wardle (Director of Cancer Research UK’s Health Behaviour Research Centre in UCL Epidemiology & Public Health) have published today in the ‘International Journal of Obesity’ new evidence that the tendency to overeat could be genetic.
Got a nasty FTO gene? Just can’t say no? Don’t blame yourself…blame your parents, and get that gene removed! …Yikes. (from TechRadar)

It is ridiculous to blame poor "genes" for humans becoming two legged hippopotamus. All they have to do is to eat to survive than doing otherway. And - hey - make do some kind of exercise just for half an hour a day.
- Eat lot of vegetables
- Drink water
- Reduce the saturated fat intake to a minimum. That means milk and milk products (yumm...cheese...) , beef, pork etc. Eat fish if you must.
Well, did I say break all the TV sets - no matter HD or otherwise.
Borrowing the punchline from a Canadian comedy artist. .."Be a man..."
Genes..Heh....!

Genes my rear end! If the kids are fat, it's the parent's fault.

Totally disagreed. Most of it has to do with how children are raised before the age of 8 - by then, the major organs (ie. brain, lungs, etc.) have reached a state of maturity. Also by that age, overweight kids who have had a bad diet will be predisposed to being overweight throughout their lives. It's not really a nature vs. nuture question.... just feed your kids a few things that aren't made totally out of sugar. Science is not gonna justify this one. Genetics is so rarely a factor in this. Stop pretending.
