February 6, 2009 is National Wear Red Day, a campaign to help raise awareness for heart disease. Even the Empire State Building is getting in on the act.

People are encouraged to "Go Red For Women" by wearing red to work on February 6 to highlight the fact that heart disease remains a health risk for women. Although heart disease is normally associated with men, it is also the number one killer of women over the age of 20.

In addition to wearing red, women are encouraged to visit the Go Red For Women website where they can get a quick heart check-up.

There is also plenty of information about heart disease-related topics such as high cholesterol, hypertension, and smoking.  The site also offers a 12-week exercise program that can whip your heart into shape.

This is a photo that was used in a "Go Read for Women" here is WI. I also attended the banquet last year and that is where I took the photos of the shoes. The group photo was used for an ad last year.   Go Red for Women is a great organization.
