A GOOD SIGN TO PREVENT AIDS AT GOLAHAT IN ASSAM (INDIA)

People appreciate PVP’s initiative in the pre celebration of World AIDS Day.


Golaghat is recently identified as the most HIV/AIDS vulnerable district of Assam where 139 patients were detected as positive including 15 nos. of children. Again STI patients are increases in Golaghat day by day due to lack of proper knowledge of prevention and awareness. By justifying the present scenario, a Voluntary Blood Check up camp and one HIV/ AIDS & Health Awareness Meeting were organized by Purbanchal Vikas Paridhi (PVP), with support of ICTC, K.K. Civil Hospital, Golaghat at Bishnupur Village, the most STI privilege area of Golaghat, a district of Assam in India on 26th November 2009. The awareness meeting and the blood check up camp were conducted by Dr. Mukul Gogoi, I/c Blood Bank, Kalpana Devi, Counselor ICTC, Riju, Counselor STD, and T.I. Project Staff of PVP. About 100 nos. of blood samples were collected in the camp where local people, workers, pregnant mother, youths were provide good support. The doctor and paramadical staffs also provided the people all the informations related to AIDS. All public have appreciate the initiative taken by Purbanchal Vikas Paridhi (PVP) for prevention of spread of HIV/AIDS along with STI s (Sexually Transmitted Infections) at Golaghat.
