Mairead Corrigan is 65 today.  She is a co-founder of the Community of Peace People in Ireland.  She and her co workers toiled tirelessly to bring about peace during "the troubles", visiting people in prison, establishing clubs for handicapped children, social areas for teenagers. 

More recently the Community of Peace People have established summer camps for young people of both protestant and Catholic churches so that they may get to know each other in a non threatening setting.

Mairead Corrigan has received many accolades for her long time humanitarian work, the most pretigious of which was the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976.
