Heinz Canada and the CFIA are issuing a warning about Heinz Mixed Cereal for babies because it may contain a carcinogen.  A full description follows.

Heinz Mixed Cereal, a Baby Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months
227 g
UPC 0 57000 02516 8
Codes:
BB/MA 10 DE 26 and
BB/MA 10 DE 29

Hazard:  The cereal may contain higher than acceptable levels of a fungus that has been associated with cancer.  The fungus, ochratoxin, can grow on grains as well as other foods.  The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified it as a possible carcinogen.
Fix:  If you have the recalled Heinz Mixed Cereal for babies in your home, do not feed it to your baby.  The levels of ochratoxin that may be found are very low, but it is best to minimize lifetime exposure.  You may contact Heinz Canada at 1 800 565 2100 to obtain more information.
