It is a shame that a deserving young man like Shawn Grim did not have the meager financial resources to continue school and get "above his surroundings"...especially since he would have felt more comfortable with a few new clothes, etc. Why didn't he apply to Berea College which supposedly particularly supports children from Appalachia? He could have been a worthwhile cause even for Diane or ABC?
