This really has made my day, I'm 46 and have a beer gut.( Whoops I'm not 46 til June, this is not a good sign getting my age wrong )
NEW YORK - Having a big belly in your 40s can boost your risk of getting Alzheimer's disease or other dementia decades later, a new study suggests.

• Participants with normal body weight and high belly measurements were 89 percent more likely to have dementia.

• Overweight people were 82 percent more likely if they had a low belly measurement, but more than twice as likely if they had a high belly measurement.

• Obese people were 81 percent more likely if they had a low belly measurement, but more than three times as likely if they had a high measurement.

Hi Vinny,

When I read the title on the front page (because it sounded ludicrous!) and clicked through, the sight of Homer there just cracked me up - it was the perfect choice!

I wonder what the mechanism and physiology is that links fat bellies to Alzheimers.  It's interesting to say the least, because if it's true, it means that it can be avoided!

Then again, people who are chronically fat for no reason other than over-indulgence, won't change their lifestyles anyway.  They've known about all the other dangers for years, but the majority will plead that they've tried to lose weight and simply couldn't.

Vinny, I had something great to say, i think, wait what story is this, can someone show me how to get to politics.

Swan, The bottom line, I mean tummy line,  is that a beer gut causes all the blood to go to the stomach. sapping all of the O2 from the brain.  But why listen to me.. I am 45 and 240 lbs.

I think that beer gut is quite sexy.  Carry on with it!
