As his grow-op burned, man made 25 phone calls, none to 911

On December 05, 2010, at around 3am, Russel Hugh MacDonald of Citadel watched his rental home burn, caused by electrical faults from his grow op.  As the Fire truck sirens wailed in the background, MacDonald believing the fire trucks were coming to the rescue fled the scene. Court records show the fire trucks were on another call.

MacDonald's selfishness shows when nary a thought of alerting his neighbours as their homes caught fire as well shows his contempt.  Though MacDonald  made 25 cell phone calls during this time, none to 911 as his own pets burned to death in the blazing inferno.

The neighbours whose homes were ablaze escaped with their lives and found themselves homeless weeks before Christmas.

MacDonald, who claimed he was not at the fire scene during his trial, records show otherwise, as MacDonald is working on his second offence, the first offence being charged with second degree murder four years previous.

There is no word whether the landlord who rented the home to MacDonald will be able to make an insurance claim, as insurance companies clearly state homes involved in grow ops are not covered in policies. There are conditions which may allow the landlord to get his claim approved, but these conditions are very restrictive in order to be met, such as monthly inspections of the residence. Chances are the landlord will lose everything, because of a grow operator.

All in all advocates for legalization of Marijuana, touting that marijuana never harms anyone, certainly has never stood out in the freezing winter in their underwear watching their home burn to the ground, while the offender is sitting in his warm vehicle.
