I would like Mark Townsend to appear on video to tell taxpayers how much he and the other executives at the PHS Community Services Society, who operate Insite, are being paid. The Vancouver Courier newspaper pressured them to provide this information but Townsend and his cohorts refused. Jim Green, who helped found the Portland Hotel Society, eventually came to their rescue by telling the media that under the Society's Act, Townsend and his fellow executives (which include his spouse, Liz Evans) weren't required to tell taxpayers how much taxpayers were paying them.
Townsend and Evans, who also operate Portland Housing for crackheads a few meters from Insite, also refused to release the results of a BC Housing audit, even though they were asked to do so by the Courier newspaper.

Mark spoke out against W2 today in City Council chambers saying they did not deserve their social enterprise space which has been integral to their proposal forever. He and his one associate were the only people to speak against W2. The council covered their asses and asked for an open RFP even though W2 has already gone through an open RFP process lasting years.
How can you speak out in council in support of an open and transparent process yet as a publically funded organization not be willing release his salary. I believe in his native England all salaries are available through public registry not just those that work in the public realm. Surely an open and transparent process includes devulging funding and spending on admistrative expenses such as Executive Director salary?
What a douche. Block free movement of tax-paying, law abiding citizens to give a concert for junkies? WTF is this city comming to???? Should have tasered their asses!
