The UK's first rehab centre for technology addicts has been opened in London.

The Capio Nightingale Hospital, a private mental health hospital, is offering the private treatment for internet obsessives damaged by the over use of social networking sites. The treatment is specifically aimed at young people and has been devised by Lead Young Person's Technology Addiction Consultant, Dr Richard Graham.

Dr Graham believes this obsession with the internet is a true addiction akin to alcoholism, gambling and sex addiction. The need to access sites and respond to messages becomes so compelling that it takes over elements of young people's lives skewing their "ability to engage in other activities".

Unlike the Alcoholics Anonymous approach to alcohol addiction where the aim is to abstain from alcohol the technology addiction treatment just aims for addits to bring it under control.

Most technology addicts are young males though there are cases of young female internet addicts too.

London has become the UK's first location to treat what one doctor calls “technology addicts.”
The children turned slaves by the advancing technologies, as they are now use-to sticking their eyeballs to the internet, computer games and mobiles will be helped entangle the web by a technology addiction service in Britain. This program has been launched on the basis of the parent’s seeking advices from doctors to improve the behavior of their children are opting because of their overindulgence in technology.
