Iran's anti-drugs police forces burnt 54 tons of narcotics in special ceremonies held throughout the country to mark the International Anti-Drugs Day.

A total of 54 tons of drugs were burnt all over the country to mark the UN International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking," Iran's anti-drug police chief General Hamid Reza Hossein Abadi said on Sunday.

"20 tons of various kinds of illicit drugs were also burnt at the Olympic Hotel in Iran's capital in the presence of the country's top officials," the commander added.
