Apple Director Jerome York in Serious Condition in Hospital after Burst Brain Aneurysm

Jerome York is in serious condition in hospital on Wednesday after suffering a burst brain aneurysm. Mr. York, 71, was taken to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac Michigan according to the Wall Street Journal, and apparently Mr. York is not responsive at this time and was described as 'gravely ill'.

Jerome York has been a director of Apple since 1997 and as an aide to billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian, they were investors in General Motors Co among others. Mr. Kerkorian who spoke about his friend on Wednesday:

"Jerry is a very dear friend and a trusted business associate, and our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family," a spokesman for Mr. Kerkorian said.

Jerome York has spent most of his long career in the auto industry and is known for helping struggling companies get back on track.

"In each case, he has made a major contribution toward restoring those companies to being the best they can be,'' said Robert S. "Steve" Miller, a turnaround specialist who has known Mr. York since they were both Chrysler executives more than 30 years ago.

He is also 'one of the most highly respected CFOs and board members in the country' according to Dennis Carey who is a senior partner at Korn / Ferry International.
