Katie Holmes ‘Blindsided’ Tom Cruise With Divorce Filing

They’ve been targeted with divorce rumors over the past few years, and now it seems Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are really splitting up, with the "Dawson's Creek" actress being the one to initiate the divorce.

According to TMZ, the "Top Gun" big screen icon was said to be ‘blindsided’ by the decision and ‘very sad’ because ‘he did not see this coming,’ according to an inside source.

Per the TMZ report, Katie dropped off the paperwork to a New York City courthouse yesterday (June 28) and cited the ever-popular ‘irreconcilable differences’ as her reason for seeking a separation.

Additionally, Miss Holmes is seeking primary residential custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri while Cruise's spokesperson told press, "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”

Meanwhile the “Mad Money” actress’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe kept tight-lipped about the high-profile breakup, only stating, “This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family.”

“Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest,” the lawyer added.

The last photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes out together in public were taken in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 1.
