Leg-lengthening Newest Craze in Plastic Surgery

Leg lengthening surgery is sometimes performed on people to combat dwarfism but a clinic in Kurgan, Siberia is conducting leg lengthening surgeries.  This ultimate vanity surgery is costly and painful.  At the end of what can take nine months of pain, the patient can gain up to two inches of height.

To lengthen the limbs the bone is first broken.

When placed back together the fractured bones will fuse.

The limbs are increased in length by using the pins to keep the bones slightly apart so that tissue continues to grow to fill the gap, and over time, lengthens the bone. Complications, though, are not uncommon. They can range from bone infection and poor bone healing, uneven growth between the limbs, damage to blood vessels, muscle and bone, and nerve injury. Orthopedic surgeon Konstantin Novikov insists he only operates where there is genuine need.

What a shame some people don't accept themselves as they are.

I guess we're made to believe that taller is better.  I.m glad I don't bump ceilings and door frames lol.

Talk about extreme cosmetic surgery, these people must be quite vain to have this performed without having deformities or discrepancies.  I'm extra short, but would never, ever think of going to such an extreme.

So many people want what they don't have, but don't think to give thanks for what they already have.  Sad!

what do you expect in this superficial, especailly western world, where every other day some stupid research comes out showing how taller people are better and more successful than shorter people. I am short person myself (5' 5") and very successful professionaly. I didn't growup in the west so my roots are quite stable and I am quite confident most of the time but I can see how living here for few years in the US or Canada can make short people feel inferior.
Being short is especially bad for men, particularly in social life. People who are going for this kind of stuff don't decide in a day to go for this surgery, they go through years of agony and pain and then think which pain is better? One year of physical pain or whole life filled with mental trauma and humiliation in this superficial society.
