First stage of this campaign has been a success!  I joined it, enjoyed it and have a couple of pounds off. The goal has been reached and surpassed. I'm part of these good statistics.

Baja California Sur lost 5,814 kilos, our cities are small so we don't have that many inhabitants, but we do have obesity, almost 10,000 persons registered to the program which consisted of following a healthy 1500 calorie diet that included easy to make Mexican recipes, food we are used to eating like frijoles, nopales, (beans and cactus).Everyday walks of a least half an hour. This is what I loved the most! Walking in the morning by the seashore, our beautiful Malecon where I could see a group of older people "Golden age" persons exercising everyday at 7 am as part of a similar government program, what I think is really great is that you can go to a stand where your blood pressure is checked to monitor it as you walk or run. Having such wonderful place to exercise and good free programs we should be in top shape, I personally think the weight loss for Baja California is too low if almost a 10,000 registered and more than 5000 kilos were lost, which means the average loss was around  1/2 kilo per person. We can do better than that!

The project is one of several new efforts to fight obesity in Mexico, which is on track to catch up with the United States within a decade as one of the world's fattest countries, according to the Mexican government. Nearly half of Mexico's 110 million people are overweight, and the number of fat children has climbed 8 percent a year over the last decade.

patgarcia, I like this story. It's good stuff.

I like this campaign, Well it will help reduce health care cost and increase longevity. Maybe even help the Sociological State of mind. Compared to North American, most Japanese would be considered anorexic, yet they are rather fit and have the longest life expectancy in the World today, they do eat well and very healthy.

Thank you Paschen, I appreciate your flag and great comment, one of the objectives is indeed to reduce health care cost, but it will bring many additional benefits as you mention. Our diet was healthier before but it has deteriorated and gone to excessive eating. I love Japanese food but I love to eat Mexican style.......... tacos at night!
