These are pictures from inside Lewin Farms Farmstand in Wading River, Long Island. Lewin Farms is a local Long Island Farm that has been here for multiple generations. There are many pick your own fields open to the public during the year at various times. These start with strawberries in June and go all the way to december with Christmas trees. Sandwiched in between are peaches, Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, Apples, Pumpkins...

Thanks for the photo! And I loved the summary of your farming operations! Do you have a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in your community? Do you grow organic?

Thanks for the great picture. It is wonderful to hear stories from local growers from coast to coast.

No problem. I believe there may be one CSA project starting in Nassua County, but not sure. I haven't heard much about it yet. My farm is in Suffolk County. It is a conventional farm, not organic. There are currently 3 generations farming it today; me and my Brother, my Father and Aunt & Uncle and my Grandfather. We grow almost all of what we sell in the farmstand; and least when that particular crop is in season, and we get a few other things such as lettuce and greens from other local farms. Obviously bananas and oranges , pinnapples etc... we carry and come from other more tropical places. We farm over 1000 acres though and I believe we are the biggest fruit and vegtable farm left on the island. I believe a couple sod farms may be bigger.
