A possible contamination by the Listeria bacterium has prompted a recall of Compliments Italian Blend salad mix.  The importer, Sobeys Inc. and Health Canada are cooperating in the recall.  A description follows.

The affected product, Compliments brand Italian Blend, is sold in 284 g (10 oz.) packages bearing UPC 68820 10093 and a Best Before Date of 10JA18.

This product has been distributed in Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Listeria monocytogenes do not make the food smell "off".  You cannot tell by looking at it that the food is contaminated.  If you have Compliments Italian Blend Salad that is mentioned above, do not eat it.  Return it to the store where you purchased it.
Food contaminated by Listeria bacteria causes food poisoning and symptoms can vary from nausea to death.
