Local Health Consultant Unlocks the Secrets to the Power of Food
Adam Hart, a well-known speaker, trainer, author, coach and the founder of Power of Food, a health consultant company that focuses on well-being in the workplace, is slated to give an exciting and informative seminar on “Regaining Control Over One’s Health” and the dietary changes that anybody can implement to discover a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle at this years Taste of Health Food Festival September 27th to 28th at the Vancouver Croatian Cultural Centre.
Adam Hart knows the Power of Food. Like any young child, his diet constituted a smorgasbord straight from Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Diagnosed with juvenile ADHD in high school, his childhood eating habits continued throughout university and into the early stages of his burgeoning career in operations for a small business. His busy schedule and long work hours meant he opted for candy bars and high sugar snacks, and his meals often consisted of whatever specials the nearest fast food restaurant was showcasing.
“After years of junk food being the staple of my diet, it was not until my mid-20s that I started to feel the effects of eating in such a physiologically deriding manner. Before long I began to experience depression, anxiety attacks, food allergies and asthma,” Adam recalls. “By the time I was 26 years old, I was pre-diabetic, 30 pounds overweight and on medication to treat my condition. The day I went to my doctor and was told I had high cholesterol was the day that everything changed for me. I took a good look around and noticed that many of my friends and family were on similar unhealthy paths. That was when I decided that I didn't want to live off of prescription drugs any longer and wanted to gain back control over my own health.”
Since then, it has been a sprint towards a healthier lifestyle focused around unlocking the power of nutritious and natural foods. After a change in scenario, and a move to the heart of British Columbia, Adam focused entirely on his deteriorating health. Adam soon found that his condition could ultimately be reversed by changing his diet to one that promoted natural, fresh foods. “I spent a greater portion of my adult life researching about what happens when we put a piece of fruit or a piece of candy in our mouths and chew. You’ll be amazed at how changes, even small tweaks, in one’s diet can result in substantial improvements to your overall health.”
Now, Adam is healthy and fit, his pre-diabetic state is an afterthought, his mood and energy levels have sky rocketed, but most importantly, through his own journey from the brink of a health disaster he rediscovered his sense of self and an invigorating new purpose in life. “After putting into practice what I had researched, and implementing new habits and changes in my life, I found a new energy to help those around me who were in a similar state as I once was. Dieting is one thing. Making fundamental changes to get to the root of the problem is another.”
Here Adam offers the Top 3 Methods to increase your ability of avoiding the dreaded Cold or Flu this winter season:
1. Get sufficient sleep
To ensure you body is well rested try and get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Your immune system relies on quality rest so do your best to avoid late nights and re-energize with quality down time.
2. Take Probiotics
Store a jar of Udo’s Choice probiotics in your fridge at home or at work. This will ensure that next time there is a sick family member, friend or co-worker around, you can replenish your good bacteria and strengthen your chances of avoiding their cold or flu.
3. Eat Hemp Seeds
I consider hemp seeds the number one nutritional resource on the planet. Hemp seeds offer your body superior nutrients while being easy to digest. Their great nutty flavour can be enjoyed raw and even kids love them. Try adding some to your morning cereal or smoothie, your salad at lunch or topped over some fresh vegetables for dinner. Anytime you include hemp seeds into your diet you are sure to strengthen the power of your immune system.
