Louise Thomas: First Eyelash Transplant in UK

Louise Thomas is the first person in the UK to receive an eyelash transplant.
Thomas, 19, is from Stockport, Greater Manchestor, and has had a lifelong condition of trichotillomania: an impulse control disorder that causes obsessive plucking or pulling out of facial, nose, pubic, scalp, or other hair on the body.
Miss Thomas said: "Having suffered from trichotillomania for 17 years, I learned to accept that I'd never have real lashes again. That's quite a hard issue for a young girl to come to terms with.
"When I heard about this treatment it sounded too good to be true but the results are absolutely amazing."
The transplant lasted four hours, and involved taking hair from the back of the head, making cuts in the eyelids, and placing hairs individually into each cut. Transplanted lashes usually thicken in four to six months after the procedure is done.
The transplant was performed by Transform, using a technique that originated in the US. According to Shami Thomas of Transform, the eyelash transplant was both safe and successful.
Shami Thomas, from Transform, which carried out the surgery, said: "We often look to America for the latest in cosmetic surgery as they are the pioneers in the industry, but not all are as successful and safe as this one."

Why can't people be pleased for this young girl. Maybe she will pull them out, maybe not. She has gone through a private clinic for this treatment and she or her parents have paid a fee of approx. £3,500, the NHS has not had to foot the bill! Look at the before photo's on another site - I would certainly do everything in my power to get this surgery for her if she were my daughter.
