It’s been proven we can do many things to calm down our brains and help them to become more peaceful and relaxed. Most of us just won’t take the time and we end up all stressed out over even little things. Stress can take many years off a person’s life and can also cause many diseases. We can learn how to take control over stress without taking medication to calm us down. We should learn ways to take care of ourselves.
I get so stressed out at times over little things that I actually start hurting in my chest and my husband helps me with my breathing. He shows me how to get myself calmed down again. This takes a lot of practice to really get the hang of. Once I work with it a few minutes I am straightened out again.
I use to have a water bed many years ago and whenever my stomach would cramp I would go and lay on it and feels the waves and pretend I was on the waves and I would get so relaxed that it would actually take away all my pain. Sometimes it can be in our mind that causes us to be so stressed out. If it is then we can control it.
I have come up with some things that help with managing stress because I don’t want to take any medication for it. Try some of these wonderful ideals and see how they help you manage your stress.
Head Phones and soft music
Bathtub with bubbles and candles
If you live in the South where there are beaches take a long stroll on the beach by yourself. Put your favorite music in an mp3 player and use your headphones. As you begin walking feel the grains of sand in between your toes and under your feet. This feeling alone should make your brain feel more relaxed and at ease. Look out over the water and watch the waves as they come slowly toward you. Look at the sky and see how blue it looks. God’s creation is a very beautiful thing to look at.
Take a lawn chair with you and put it in the water deep enough for the water to come in on your legs. Lay your head back and take very deep breaths. Look at the sunset as it goes down and look at the different colors of the sky when it meets the water. There are so many different colors. It’s a breath taking picture. Take the time out and smile at what you see. Smiling and being happy helps relax the brain.
Especially up North in the fall there are the most beautiful trees ever seen. Take longs walks in the woods and look at the scenery. The trees shed all their different colors of leaves on the ground. Start kicking these leaves as you walk and clear your mind of everything. Take deep breaths and smell the good clear air. Let this clean air get way down in your lungs.
Lay in a hammock under some trees. If the wind is blowing it will feel even better. If there are birds around listen to them sing. They do the most beautiful singing. My husband and I listen to the birds on our front porch and it makes us smile every time. We love hearing them. Clear your mind and take a nice nap. When you wake up you will feel more relaxed and ready to meet the rest of the day.
Play with an animal. Let a cat rub his little face on you, they can be so funny and make you start laughing. Laughter is the best medicine after all.
Listen to some soft music, light your candles and take a long warm bubble bath without any distractions.
Go and have a long massage. Let your mind and body relax as they work on you. A great stress release. Many people do this already because they know the affects it has on the body. After a long massage you will feel like a totally new person ready to face anything.
