Maytag Dishwasher Recall: Fire Hazard
Maytag Recalls 1.7 Million Dishwashers in USA, Canada
Maytag is recalling roughly 1.7 million dishwashers due to the risk of fire due to electrical failure.
The Maytag dishwashers affected by the recall include the following brands manufactured between February 2006 and April 2010:
- Maytag
- Amana
- Jenn-Air
- Crosley
- Magic Chef
- Performa
- Admiral
Maytag Recall Site
If you own one of the above brands, check the Maytag recall site to see if your dishwasher's serial number is among those affected. This recall affects units sold in the USA and Canada. If your dishwasher has indeed been recalled, follow the instructions given; you will not have to truck the dishwasher to the point of purchase.
"Maytag has received 12 reports of dishwasher heating element fires that have resulted in fires and dishwasher damage, including one report of extensive kitchen damage from a fire," the CPSC said. There have been no reports of injuries.
Consumers are asked not to take their dishwashers back to the point of purchase.
Instead they can schedule a free in-home repair or apply for a rebate on the purchase of a new dishwasher.

I have a dishwasher 37142226LE that I tried to check on your site, but when I entered my information, it would not let me pick Ontario, Canada and therefore I could not continue to fill out the form. Could you let me know if my dishwasher was affected and what I should do.
