12 People Have Been Hospitalized and Over 100 Were Treated After a Chemical Leak Was Discovered in the MGM Grand Pool in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Sun reports that the 100 people affected were complaining of breathing difficulties and 12 people had to be taken to hospital, but they were all conscious and alert.

About 200 people were evacuated from the pool area after it was discovered that an injector valve on the chlorination system became stuck in the 'on' position. Gordon Asher, the MGM Resorts International spokesman told the Sun that once it was discovered what happened the valve was immediately shut off.

The Las Vegas Hazards Team are on the scene along with the Fire Department.

Metro Police have closed Audrie Street between Harmon Avenue and the MGM Grand valet. A portion of Rue De Monte Carlo also was closed.

It is not expected that this incident will have any long-term affects at this time.
