Nadya Suleman Talks Food Stamps, Defends Nude Photo Shoot
She’s back in the public eye thanks to a topless photo shoot and her reliance on food stamps, and Nadya Suleman chatted with Matt Lauer on the “Today” show this morning (April 5) regarding her crazy life.
The mother of fourteen explained how she changed her mind about getting public assistance after previously vowing to never go on the food stamp program.
"I still am working as hard as I possibly can to support [my kids]. I made that call reluctantly. I feel ashamed, but who cares how I feel. It's 100 percent about my children."
Suleman continued, "People are saying, 'Nadya, people are thinking you have been on (assistance). Who cares if you even do this? They thought you were on it already.' My priority is my children — their health, their well-being, their safety. I’m giving myself another 2 months to be on it."
Nadya also confessed that her public image is much too negative for her to face. “I don't ever, ever Google myself. I'm the wrong person to harass, to use as a bad example. I should actually be perceived as an inspiration to women, for having gone what I've been through and being sane."
As for her skin-baring photo session, Ms. Suleman declared that she’d never be open to doing actual pornography. “I won’t touch other human flesh. The only flesh I’m touching is my own. I would never, never accept anything. I will not lose my grip of my deeply indoctrinated morals and values.”
“Every choice we parents make is going to significantly affect our children for the rest of our lives. It’s going to haunt them forever. I have to be the ultimate positive role model.’’
According to a report, the woman made famous by her decision to carry eight children at one time got naked for the folks over at the European publication in exchange for a quick $10,000 paycheck. A photo from the shoot emerged last week which shows Suleman posing topless in nude-colored underwear, her hands covering her breasts.
Regarding her decision to do the spread, Nadya explained, "I'm doing that (posing nude) because I need to feed my kids. I need to pay the bills. And I'm still very cognizant of the repercussions of my choices."
Back in 2009, the 36-year-old was offered $1 million from Vivid Entertainment for a multi-film contract, but back then she apparently wasn’t as desperate.
