Natalie Morton died in a hospital soon after she received a cervical cancer  or HPV vaccine and fell ill at her school in Coventry, UK.  Britain's National Health Service began offering the Cervarix vaccine 18 months ago. About 0.15 percent of recipients reacted badly to the vaccine but most of these were mild, cbc reports.

Girls in Morton's school were in a panic after they found out what had happened. A number of other girls were sent home after the vaccine when they said they weren't feeling well. The Morton family has issued a short statement thanking people for support, and asking for privacy to mourn Natalie, according the the telegraph.

"What we don't know at this stage is whether her sad death and her feeling unwell is in any way connected to the immunization itself," said Mike Attwood of the public health department in Coventry.

About 1,000 deaths occur in the UK each year due to cervical cancer, and the country's vaccination program is reportedly expected to save 700 lives a year. The HPV vaccine is available in over 40 countries, medicine.com reports.

The Malaysian Health Ministry is planning to provide the HPV vaccine to 13-year old girls next year, and has issued a statement saying it will `conduct an assessment probe` to investigate Natalie Morton`s death further, tsd reports.
