NMA is positioned to work with partners in the Development Sector in Nigeria

Dr. Francis Ohanyido the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA)’s Advisor and Catalyst in the Development Sector has said that the association which occupies an enviable social advocacy niche as well as having the largest network of medical doctors in Africa is well positioned to work with partners in the sector. In a discussion in his office with a visiting team of Nigerian journalists at his office at COMPASS Project/ USAID in Abuja yesterday, he cited the various contributions his association has made in the evolution and development of the project in collaboration with a consortium international partners like Pathfinder International, Management Science for Health (MSH), Creative Associates International Inc.(CAII) , as well as Nigerian partners like Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN),Civil Society Coalition for Education for All (CSACEFA) , and Adolescent Health Information Project (AHIP). All the members of the consortium have effectively learnt to work together in the dynamics of possibly USAID’s largest integrated project in Africa to develop exemplary community generated best-practices models to work with in the social sector cutting across Health and Basic Education. NMA, he added had learnt a lot and is better poised to work with other partners towards strengthening the fragile health-related domain in Nigeria.

“The Nigerian Medical Association is interested in helping to reform the present system of healthcare in Nigeria. The present Executives of the body led by Dr Prosper Igboeli is willing to engage all partners on the field to look for a way forward with the Federal Ministry of Health (Government) in the driving seat”, he had concluded. “This largely explains NMA’s recent move of secretariat from Lagos to Abuja”. http://www.prnewsnow.com/Blog?author=IPHF&id=207816&rec=1
