Nuclear Rabbit: Earless Bunny Sparks New Fukushima Daiichi Fear
Earless 'Nuclear Rabbit' Born Near Fukushima Daiichi
Video footage of a mutant rabbit with no ears is sparking fresh fears about the radiation leaking from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The rabbit appears to be an albino, and it has no ears. "Nuclear rabbit" was filmed by a YouTube user called yuunosato.
The "nuclear rabbit" was born outside the exclusion zone surrounding the stricken Fukushima Daiichi plant. According to the video, this was the first abnormal rabbit born at this particular pen. The bunnies eat the wild grass that grows on the premises.
Real Nuclear Bunny? Real Nuclear Fears
This mutant rabbit may or may not be real (it could have been born earlier than stated, or its ears may have been removed), but it is raising new questions regarding the Japanese government's honesty about the extent of the danger posed by Fukushima Daiichi. It doesn't help when a government official refers to a volunteer cleanup group as "the suicide corps".

That bunny is pretty cute even without ears. I hope he gets a pet home out of this.

*sigh*Tell me, exactly, how a film that could have been shot anywhere, at any time, showing a rabbit that could have been born without ears for any number of reasons not associated with the nuclear plant, could, in any way, "rais[e] new questions regarding the Japanese government's honesty about the extent of the danger"?If I shot a video of a three-legged frog in Ohio two years ago and posted it on YouTube claiming it was from a stream near the reactor, would that be raising new questions regarding the Japanese government's honesty about the extent of the danger?Without any evidence of the video's origin it is completely and absolutely meaningless. That anyone is "reporting" on this with any degree of credibility is galling. That TIME, MSNBC, and many others are carrying this story is only evidence of how far "journalistic" standards have fallen.
