NYC Condom Design Contest: New Yorkers to Design New Package
New York City is asking residents to design the package of the city's very own condom. The deadline of NYC condom design contest is January 22, 2010. The selected finalists will be announced in February, and New Yorkers will be able to vote for their favorite NYC condom package design. The winning design will feature on the special limited-edition NYC Condom in fall of 2010.
They are looking for "designs that reflect the city's diverse, distinctive culture while conveying the message that safer sex is better sex."
Any New York City resident aged 17 or older can submit one entry. Just a few things to keep in mind:
The artwork must be original, must not be raunchy, and can’t include copyrighted or trademarked images (no Empire State Building motifs).

The official NYC Condom began its first distribution in 2007. It has since undergone one redesign in 2008, by industrial designer Yves Behar.
But the idea of making the 2.3-inch square condom wrapper distinctive — initially, the letters “NYC CONDOM” were in the style of subway-line logos, until the 2008 overhaul led by the designer Yves Béhar — is what’s new.
“The NYC Condom has helped New Yorkers talk about and practice safer sex,” said Dr. Thomas A. Farley, the health commissioner.
