Something I just recieved in email tonight- this concerns me particularly, because we are one of those thousands without health coverage. Read this:

Dear Nancy,

The rumor in Washington is that health care reform might get put on the backburner until 2010.

Don't let that happen!

Tell President Obama that we simply can't afford to wait to fix health care!

The buzz around in Washington is growing louder -- and the news is not good.

It's becoming clear that some Members of Congress may want to put health reform on the back burner until at least 2010. And the Obama administration has not yet committed to making health reform a top priority this year.

Meanwhile, you know that the soaring costs of health care -- and rising unemployment -- are forcing more and more people to go without coverage. Americans simply cannot afford to wait any longer.

Send a message to President Obama today -- and demand that health care reform be a top priority in 2009!

During last year's campaign, then Senator Obama and nearly two-thirds of Congress pledged to work across party lines to accomplish meaningful health reform. But, with a worsening economic crisis dominating the news, the tone in Washington has changed.

What is not being said is that skyrocketing health care costs are fanning the flames of this crisis. If we don't fix health care now, more and more American families and businesses will be squeezed. People are skipping pills. Parents are choosing between buying groceries and taking a child to see a doctor. We need to fix health care now!

Nancy, you are one of the 1.6 million Divided We Fail members who have signed up to hold our leaders accountable to their campaign promises.

Contact President Obama today - and tell him that the cost of doing nothing is far too great.

Then, please forward this email along to your friends and family. Together, we can make sure health reform remains in its rightful spot at the top of the agenda.

Sincerely,
The Divided We Fail Team

From the most recent count I've seen, Nancy, you would be one of more than 47 million Americans currently without health care coverage. While right-wingers will have our US neighbours believe that socialist Canada has a terrible health care system, in fact, it remains one of the best in the world because of its universality. As long as health care is viewed as a commodity to be purchased by those who can pay, the US will continue to abandon millions of Americans to the crap shoot that is life without medical care.

It will be so far back on the Backburner, you'll never ever find it.

Canada voted and got their Free Healtcare in 1948, and the US citizens wanted the same thing, so every President since the 1950s have said Lets Get Free Healthcare, as a Voting Ploy, once elected "It gets put on the Backburner" Boy you people in the states must have a lot of Stoves with Backburners piling up.

Big Business will never allow Free Healthcare in the states, you will have better success in Getting Peace in the Middle East and Israel!

We have different philosophies in our political parties and as long as we have a close to 50/50 split of seats in the house and senate (and I know one of the two major parties normally tips the scale by a minor percentage) we will need to fight to move in either direction. We have had presidents who attempted to move the "health care is not a luxury but a right" agenda and been held back by the opposite party. It is no secret those presidents have been Democrats. We have an aging population with a health care system that does not support everyone. We need to change that. We, the people, need to keep fighting for what we need.
