One day ENT Camp Held at Thatyur village near Musoorie

Mussoorie, 27 Dec: One day ENT medical camp was organised by the Divine Light Trust in Association with Maulana Azaad Medical College, Delhi at Thatyur for the benefit of villagers below poverty line. More than 250 patients of all age attended the camp.
Senior Registrar, Department of ENT, MAMC Dr Sumit Mrig MS (ENT) DNB along with senior Registrar Dr Amit Pal Singh MS (ENT) DNB and Audio-recorder Amit conducted a thorough check up of the patients and referred more than 150 patients for operation on priority basis. Test for deafness was also conducted using the modern technique through Audiometer.
Several patients suffering with decaying ear bones will also be operated. More than 50 patients with hearing deficiency were also identified who would be provided with quality hearing devices free of cost courtesy Divine Light Trust Mussoorie. The trust is headed by eminent Dr’s Veenu and Sunil Sanon.Dr Sunil Sanon also informed that the patient in need of operation will be funded by Divine Light Trust right from transportation and their staying requirements. He also informed that all the patients will be operated at Lok Nayak Hospital New Delhi.
MUSSOORIE, 27 Dec: The doctors From MAMC Delhi were startled with a large number of patients suffering with perforation and ear discharge surfacing at the camp. Senior registrar Department of E.N.T, MAMC Dr.Sumit Mrig (M.S (E.N.T) D.N.B speaking exclusively to GP said that after the thorough checkup he has come to the conclusion that area was heading towards complete deafness if immediate action were not initiated by the government. To start with more such drives should be carried out by the government on priority basis in which MAMC Delhi would assist willingly. He also said that an awareness drive towards ear hygiene should be initiated at grass root level in which the villagers ought to be educated that ear discharge was not a normal thing as presumed but a disease which needed treatment. The villagers should also be made aware that the any throat or nose infection could lead to serious hearing impairment and avoiding cold would be the best prevention.
Mussoorie, 27 Dec: Speaking to Garhwal Post, Consulting Physician for Manorama Devi Birla Charitable Trust, Dr. Sunil Sanon said that he was extremely glad and thankful to the eminent ENT specialist of international repute D. AK Agarwal that such state of art camp under PPP mode could be organised for the first time in association with organization like MAMC Delhi, in a far flung village of Thatyur. He also informed that the patients selected for hearing aids will be given only after the specific cast and dimension according to the need of the individual are finalized. Not only that a hands down training on the correct use, replacement of batteries and assessing the grade of deafness according to the grades of deafness which falls under moderate, severe and profound categories would also be ensured and that is the main reason why the hearing aids have not being provided on the site itself.
