Three young girls ended up in the hospital due to exploding, what seemed to be, candy. The name on the Pouch, 'FRUIT BOMB'.  This item was placed on the candy shelf at a Citco gas station in Buffalo, NY, and for 30 cents the girls thought they were getting a sweet treat. Well that wasnt the case when the girls started putting the powdery substance in their mouth. They said that when they placed the powder in their mouth it started popping, one thought it was pop rocks. One girl said she took a drink after she put the powder in her mouth and it started foaming and tasted gross and spit it out. One child that ingested the most amount was holding her stomach in severe pain and was rushed to the hospital. All girls were treated and sent home and are doing fine.

A parent even said that she would have mistaken this item, FRUIT  BOMB, for candy as well because it was located on the candy shelf. The pouch states on the back: A Choking Hazard & Do not put in the mouth. The package looks like candy. She even made a point that people go into the store and pick up a granola bar and ask how many people read the back of the packages. I know I dont.

It was said the "Nobody's gunna get severly ill from these." And explains that, "when the water(liquid) in the bag breaks inside it creates heat and gas and it's meant to be thrown on the ground , the thing explodes and I guess it's supposed to be neat and fun."

Well they went on doing a demonstration of this crazy explosive "candy", and pinched the pouch and tossed it on the ground and it EXPLODED, making a loud noise like a firecracker. But if this exploded with that amount of force, imagine what it could have done to these little girls or even your child.

FRUIT BOMB is NOT CANDY!!! It's an AIRFRESHNER, theat explodes?!

Thanks so much for posting this - an important topic!

Can you add in your sources however. I know you wrote it, but add in where the original stories came from - just the links is ok.

Thanks!
