Paula Deen, the celebrity chef famous for her high-calorie, deep-fried cooking, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Deen kept her diabetes a secret, but now it's out in the open.
Type 2 diabetes is associated with obesity and the over-consumption of fatty foods. Type 2 diabetes cannot be cured, but can be managed.
Paula Deen will have to totally overhaul her brand: she can't very well go on TV and present the foods that are killing her.

Oh, and Paula Deen inked a multi-million dollar deal to be the spokesperson for Novo Nordisk, which manufactures the diabetes medication she's been taking.
Note that our headline is not meant as a joke: if you are diabetic, and you eat what Paula Deen prepares on her show, you'll be in trouble healthwise.
Anthony Bourdain and Barbra Walters have accused Paula Deen of adding to the childhood-obesity epidemic in America. Meanwhile, Paula's son, Bobby Deen, has debuted a more health-conscious cooking show called Not My Mamma's Meals.
