US House of Representatives Declares Pizza to Be a Vegetable

Pizza is not a vegetable, unless you've been lobbied by the American Frozen Food Institute.  The AFFI isn't a research group, but a lobbying conglomerate of the largest frozen-food manufacturers in America.

Prodded by the frozen-food lobby, the GOP-led House of Representatives voted to scrap a USDA rule that would strip pizza of its "vegetable" status if it had less than half a cup of tomato sauce. Fancying themselves pizza chefs, opponents of the USDA's rule said that that much tomato sauce would ruin the pizza, leaving out the fact that said pizza was a frozen food.

Not for nothing, but tomatoes are not vegetables, even on their own. The tomato is a fruit.

You know what you get when you let frozen-food companies dictate school-lunch regulations? You get fat kids.

Even Fox News had to side with the Obama Administration on this one.
