a possible cure for Alzheimer's
The following outline is a kind of 'research plan of attack' with the objective to cure Alzheimer's. It was inspired by God and Janet Blanks, Director of the Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton.
1. precisely define plasticity and find accurate, reliable, and safe ways to measure it
2. find a repertoire of drugs that temporarily and provably increase plasticity
3. invent distinct new behavioral therapies that stimulate diverse positive neural network patterns such as art, music, and pet therapy
4. investigate the notion of an 'optimal set' of therapies combined with 'duration patterns' that optimize research expenditures and minimize study time
For those who appreciate research jargon, of course, i'm assuming a direct relationship between plasticity and Alzheimer's; i'm assuming among many things that Alzheimer's is a degradation of neural plasticity - and - that combining various behavioral therapies with plasticity enhancing drugs can give us the time we need to discover the molecular causes of Alzheimer's.
