Healthcare For Men and BoysObviously, blood pressure control is key in preventing heart disease. All the usual suspects should be mentioned in controlling blood pressure–exercise, weight control, diet, smoking, and alcohol. While smoking is not a cause of hypertension, it is a contributing factor. Smoking does not cause heart disease, but it does it lead to pathogenic changes that lead to heart disease. We know there is a definite link between smoking and heart disease, thus the combination of smoking and high blood pressure increases the risk of developing a heart attack.
