Pro-God supporters hit back on the buses
The battle on the buses between humanist and Christian groups over whether God exists steps up with pro-god adverts set to hit London streets on the famous London buses.
These will be a direct response to the Humanist Society's adverts stating that there was probably no God.
Three separate groups are planning campaigns and whatever side you go with if the old adage that any publicity is good publicity holds true then God has never had it so good.
And it's not just in London but as seen here earlier on NowPublic it's happening in Canada too!
Three separate pro-God advert campaigns on the sides of London buses are set to hit city streets.
Buses adorned with the slogan "There definitely is a God" are from the Christian Party, while the Trinitarian Bible Society chose a Biblical verse.
The Russian Orthodox Church is also preparing bus adverts.
The adverts, which are unrelated, come a month after the British Humanist Association placed "no God" slogans on buses across England.
Those adverts, which read: "There probably is no God: so stop worrying and enjoy your life" prompted complaints from the group Christian Voice and from individuals.

If you can be "good without God", then your conception of morality is your God. It may be impersonal, but you have just re-introduced a Divine Entity into your psyche or acknowledged the one already there.
The comic book version of Higher Power doesn't work, but eliminating universals such as morality leads to nihilism.

I would be surprised if our planet would be less moral had there never existed the concept of a higher being. Look at the carnage done due to how people interpret "The Word of God". That kind of thinking takes responsibility away from the individual and allows people to lay all the blame on "God's will".

Well I guess we might as well balance out the coverage! I just hope it doesn't go over the top and the next one will be like 'Satan; he does exist'.

My comment comes right out of Friedrich Nietzsche's books, which I spent a considerable amount of time on several decades ago.
You confuse church, religion and spirituality. All institutions look for money. Atheists such as Madeliene Murray whose case got rid of prayer in school in the US was killed by another atheist in her organization trying to steal money.
The Bolsheviks, when they took over in Russia, stormed into the houses of the rich and seized all the best clothing for their girlfriends whom they then paraded around the square.
Top communists wouldn't be caught dead in the Brezhnev era without being in a Pierre Cardin suit. The Russian communist party had special stores for communistis only.
So, we can dispense with the drivel about greed and the church. Greed is a universal phenomenon and nothing about atheists has demonstrated otherwise.

But I thought the "There's Probably No God" campaign was in response to a pro-Christian campaign from the previous year?? This could go back and forth for ages...

AND, these ad campaigns have already been rejected in Victoria and Halifax...unclear whether the ads have been approved in Vancouver:
Source: cbc.ca
Religious and philosophical ads are supposedly not permitted within ads displayed through BC Transit.

I am skeptical that 'god as a conception of morality' is what religious organizations have in mind when constructing these campaigns. If everyone actually believed this notion, the big business of organized religion would be dead - the comic book "capital 'G'-o-d" version is what turns a profit.

God is dead! and Jesus Christ died so that mankind could eat chocolate Easter eggs!

Super post!
"There's no god, now stop worrying and enjoy your life".
I just love this.
Think about it. Whether you believe in "god" or not, it helps us all think about it.
Commendable campaign, to be taken at face value.

A really good, deep atheist is as rare a bird as his counterpart in the religious world.
Nietzsche is the man when it comes to understanding the ins and outs of atheism. A truer atheist never existed.
Most atheists are just the mirror image of the religious people they mock, and end up touting Marx and Lenin or joining some anarchist group.
They steal and lie, as we see whenever atheist governments take power, such as in the Soviet Union, or they ruthlessly suppress liberty such as Fidel Castro.
Patrol your own, atheists, before pointing fingers at those inclined to impute a universe replete with meaning as intrinsic.

Why did this site eliminate the word "Probably" from the advertisement which originall said"there's probably no god" but the headline seems to scream "there's no god"
This kind of blatant media manipulation is whats wrong with mass media today.
Report the news don't create or manipulate the news!

NowPublic does not manipulate or alter media - the advertisement pictured is simply another version of the original ad.

In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, "There is no God."
