Saturday 10th October was the second Saturday of the month, which meant it was another day of  protest outside the Scientology Corporations headquarters at 258-260 Deansgate, Manchester. About 15 protesters showed up with their leaflets, protests signs, flags and good humour.

There were some protest signs with "FREE MANDY" and "MANDY CALL YOUR MOTHER".MANDY is  Mandy Kemper, whose last known whereabouts was working for the Scientology Corporation in Los Angeles. Susan Talbot, Mandys' mother  has not been able  to get in contact with her daughter for some time and is concerned for her welfare and well being.

One sign that grabbed my eye was "Atlanta Church of Scientology refuses to repay me $22,000 it owes me". The protest sign refers to a single mum who appears to have fallen on hard times. She has contributed over $200,000 to the Scientology business empire over a 16 year period. She realised after all this time "I hadn't once made a single friend there that I would consider calling up for lunch"......."The constant hounding for money had always ticked me off. I had taken to turning off all lights in the evening and retiring with my daughter to the back of the house in case people dropped by to "brief" me". She is now fighting to retrieve $22,000 she has on "account" with the Scientology franchise. In an effort to get her money back, she has created her own website which details her story and gives helpful information to both current and ex-members of Scientology who are in similar positions.

It seems quite ironic to me, that a few protesters outside the Scientology Corporation headquarters in Manchester, England appear to be  more concerned  about a Scientologist single mum who has fallen on hard times, than the Scientology Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A who have spent millions of dollars recently in purchasing some more retail estate. It  reminds me of a quote from the writer Sam Butler "All philosophies, if you ride them home, are nonsense, but some are greater nonsense than others."

The next Manchester protest of Scientology is due on Saturday 14th November at 11 am.

All philosophies, if you ride them home, are nonsense, but some are greater nonsense than others.

Never, never, never.... give your money to a church and expect it back.
Thanks for this, and keep us updated.

Scientology has also won a lawsuit against Russia too, recently.

The European Court of Human Rights delivered a verdict Thursday entitling members of two Scientology groups in Russia to registration as religious groups, finding that their rights to freedom of religious association under the European Convention of Human Rights had been breached by the Russian state.

nice coverage. a fairly uneventful protest, but fun none the less.i was saddened to see a woman take her two young children into the org. so many families have been needlessly torn apart.

Thanks Getbeckyout for your comment. The story about the "Atlanta Mum" can be found http://www.powerandreligion.com/ . This is a comment from that website:
I'm an older single mom who spent 16 years in Scientology.
I have $22,000 on account in the Atlanta church.  I have been attempting to close out that account for months.  While they don't deny they owe me the money, they have stonewalled me, and treated me rudely and insolently.

I believe this behavior is condoned by the Church of Scientology.  This pattern of response to repayment requests is rampant in the the church.   So rampant there are numerous websites focused on this issue.

Why is it that Scientology is so persecuted?  Why is it that if someone protests against Islam they are Islamophobic?  I will call these people Scientolophobic.

Thanks bettermaker for your comment. It is nice to know you are seeking  the truth about Scientology.

Scientology has a long history of prosecutions all over the world. L.Ron Hubbard, the science fiction writer and founder of Scientology, had criminal convictions for petty theft and fraud. His third wife of over 30 years, Mary Sue Hubbard, was imprisoned for her role in Scientology's infiltration of government offices, known as Operation SNOW WHITE. Scientology has being prosecuted in France, Greece, Canada, U.S.A; is currently awaitnig a verdict in France and is being investigated in Belgium. Scientology is not "persecuted"; just ask Paulette Cooper, Bonnie Woods, Jon Atack, Gerald Armstrong and all the thousands of victims of Scientology.

Islam is a recognised religion all over the world, which is free to all. Scientology is neither recognised nor free. Just ask  "Atlanta Mum".

Scientolophobic is not a recognised word in the English language. It appears to be a misunderstood word on your behalf.
