The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much it is whether we provide enough for those who have little.
Franklin D. Roosevelt - circa 1933
This is a posting made on Craigslist.
It was flagged down by people that don't want us to know how much money is made by 8,000 San Francisco City Employees making over $100,000 per year totalling 800 Million Dollars.
We posted this to show the contrast between the will of the people who wnat and need to have basic mental health and homeless services maintained for hundreds of San Francisan residents to Prevent Harm and decrease future costs for emergency and crisit costs later -- the people making over $100k a year refuse to spend money on us, as human investments to prevent harm, loss of life and future costs by NOT investing in our people, now.
SHAME ON THEM !

Well, well, well.... A BIG 'THANK YA KINDLY' To Our Friends At both FogCity Journal and SFGate.com, For This Very Timely and Informative Tip....
With This Tip We Can Solve The Buster's Place Crisis, WITHOUT Having To Rely On Tax Payer Money OR Charitable Community Donations !!!
Follow the Cash Flow Here...
Heres a list of San Francisco City/County Employees that are making more than One Hundred Thousand Dollars Per Year.
That's more than $100,000 Dollars Per Year for each of these 8,000 employees...
So, if the whole city is talking about 'budget cuts' made by the Mayor's Office or the Heads of Agencies, we must consider taking a look at how much money is being made by our public servants, to help us figure out where they are coming from, with their decisions.
Their decisions often cause us real harm, put our lives at risk and sadly, may cause some of us to die preventable deaths, in the streets, because we have no where else to go, to be safe.
Yet, our City has about 8,000 employees that are making over $100,000 dollars per year (our tax dollars at work!).
If you multiple 8 thousand times 100 thousand, what do you get ?
Question 1:
What is the combined budget cost to pay 8,000 City Workers,
each making more than $100,000 per year ?
Pick A Number. Any Number ...
A. $800 Thousand Dollars
B. $8 Million Dollars
C. $80 Million Dollars
D. $800 Million Dollars
The Answers Will Come In A Minute... onto the next question.
Now, for contrast, how much money does it take to keep 100 San Francisco Residents (elderly, poor, mentally ill, disabled, at-risk veterans & home-less) safe, warm, dry & clean, at a 24 hour crisis/drop in center, for 365 days per year ?
( and as a percentage of the low estimate of the combined salaries of these 8,000 - $100K+ /year City Workers )
Question 2:
What is the budget cost to fund a 24 Hour Drop-In Crisis Center such as Buster's Place, serving men and women ?
Pick One:
Drop-In Costs As Pecentage of the 8k worker's salaries
A. $800 Million 100% ( One Hundred Percent )
B. $80 Million 10% ( Ten Percent )
C. $8 Million 1% ( One Percent )
D. $2 Million .5% ( One Half of One Percent )
E. $1 Million .025% ( One Fourth of One Percent )
Well, boys and girls, pencils down!
Here are the correct answers:
Question 1: What is the combined budget cost to pay 8,000 City Workers, each making more than $100,000 per year ?
D. $800 Million Dollars
Question 2: What is the budget cost to fund a 24 Hour Drop-In Crisis Center such as Buster's Place, serving men and women ?
Somewhere between Answers D. & E. is the correct answer.
D. $2 Million ;nbsp; .5% ( One Half of One Percent )
E. $1 Million .025% ( One Fourth of One Percent )
So, it looks like one way to keep a safe place like Buster's Place from closing down and causing harm would be to ask 8,000 City Workers to simply donate One Half of One Percent of their Annual Salary (as a tax deductable write-off) towards keeping Buster's Place Open.
Or better yet, let's ask these 8,000 City Employees, if they would be willing to donate a mere One Percent of their annual salary towards opening up a New Model Shelter -- designed and managed completely by former home-less San Franciscan Residents !
And, they could donate the money to a new non-profit, formed entirely by homeless residents themselves. And, we could run this new non-profit homeless shelter WITHOUT tax money and WITHOUT any other 'faith based' or non-profit donations !!
Oh, ny gosh... the homeless people would be free to fully embrace and enhance homeless services with Zero Tolerance for abuse, corruption, theft, waste and we could make sure that the new Standards of Care legislation is fully implemented into their Site's Policies even though it would NOT be Tax Payer Funded !!
See... this is the kind of ideas you get when you 'get creative' and think outside the box. Homeless people helping themselves without any one else trying to second guess their needs.
Without tax payer money !!! Without 'old school' biases and nepotism and favoritism. All residents treated equally and fairly by their own people, who know about long suffering and know about respect, love and caring for other humans.
No more political battles... no more trying to convince officials to help us... no more control freaks ... no more cutting in line to get a bed reservation... no more bad meals... no more unqualified staff... this is a dream that we CAN make happen.
Let's get to work on this !!!
Here are the details of the salaries below. There are many city workers that make even more than $100,000 so, if every one of them gave us just 1% of their salary, we'd have more like Ten to Twenty Million Dollars to spend, designing our new self run homeless shelter system. By and for our beautiful and talented San Franciscan home-less residents...

Here is an excerpt of the article and the salary list:
City of San Francisco's Over-$100,000 Earners
In the 2007 calendar year, the City and County of San Francisco had more than 8,000 employees with total pay over $100,000.
Find out who they were, what departments they worked for and how much they made by searching the database below.
First 20 out of the Top 100 City Workers' Salaries Over $100k per year:
For fun, you can even narrow down the search to one department.
Wow. This is so ironic.
Instead of searching the globe for funding, we could appeal to the hearts and minds of these 8,000 employees and with a meager fraction of their salary, we could finance a brand new shelter system operated solely by our own residents without being dependent on tax money or charitable donations.
It's like a clean slate. A chance to start over and do it right with all new people that have no history of abuse or corruption.
WE WOULD ALL BE FREE !! FREE! FREE AT LAST !!!
Free from the stress of being treated like a number on a budget page, instead of living, breathing human being. Free from being 'controlled' by people who have either never been without a home or that has long since forgotten.
Are you ready to help design and manage a new shelter model run entirely by our own trusted homeless residents ?? My family is ready and we're going to start this new process, today !!!!!
What an inspiration !!
