RAPE! McCain and Palin say, "So what?"
I was not planning to write another article about political figures, because I usually cover mental health issues. However, this article exposes some important information with tremendous bearing on the mental health of women who are or may become rape victims.
Many American women are very PROUD of Senator McCain choosing Governor Palin as his running mate, never knowing that as far as the two of them are concerned, poor and middle class women can be raped in their own homes at night without police having the necessary evidence to prosecute their attackers!
Women voters should know that McCain and Pallin apparently believe only wealthy women should be able to prove sex crimes. Damn those who cannot afford a rape exam - during which doctors take semen samples, test for HIV, check for DNA evidence under the nails and on the clothes and person of the victim (which might be used to prosecute the rapist and possibly prevent his raping other innocent women), and evaluate the mental health of the unfortunate rape victim and offer her crisis counseling. One might wonder if these candidates care about crime, or if it is just female victims they seem not to care about.
Women cannot schedule the day when they will be raped and budget for that.
The thing that bothers some voters is that Palin received pay for a day she spent with her family attending a ballgame, but she apparently considers it wasteful to use taxpayers' money to gather evidence to catch and prosecute rapists. According to the Washington Post, during the 19 months Gov. Palin held that position, she billed the state for 312 nights working while actually at home, plus she billed the state for working on Thanksgiving Day, when she and her family attended a ball game. See this link for the Washington Post article:
The Washington Post reports: "Palin charged the state a per diem for working on Nov. 22, 2007 -- Thanksgiving Day. The reason given, according to the expense report, was the Great Alaska Shootout, an annual NCAA college basketball tournament held in Anchorage."
It is important to have a doctor retrieve criminal evidence out of a victim's body cavity after rape occurs (most often a woman, but sometimes men, boys, and girls). After being raped, would McCain and Palin actually have a poor woman live the next seven years or longer before knowing she contracted HIV/AIDS during her assault and risk infecting others, rather than to allocate funds for a rape test? One might wonder if McCain and Palin think Child molestation cases qualify for rape test kits and counseling sessions.
Citizens should probably be concerned about the prospect of the proposed national health insurance. One day, Americans might have people like McCain and Palin in charge, who just do not seem to value citizens unless they have lots of money like them and their friends. Americans need expanded health care insurance coverage, but it might be prudent to ask what else besides rape kits might be missing under a national health plan if it falls under the jurisdiction of people such as these candidates.

Here is important information for women who are McCain/Palin supporters:
GOVERNOR PALIN IS NO "SISTER"!
Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1996 to 2002. And according to an Alaskan news article in the local Wasilla paper in the year 2000, the City of Wasilla, under Mayor Palin, charged rape victims for their own forensic tests. Most Alaskan municipalities picked up the tab themselves, but not Wasilla, the article notes. You see, the city of Wasilla, the article notes, didn't want to "burden" taxpayers with having to support victims of rape. Yes, they were more interested in lowering taxes. It would have cost the city between $5,000 and $14,000 a year to pay for the rape victims' police medical exams.
McCAIN VOTED AGAINST BIDEN LAW REQUIRING FREE RAPE EXAMS
McCain Voted Against Biden Law Requiring Free Rape Exams. Sarah Palin, When Mayor of Wasilla, Charged Rape Victims for Exams to Prove That They Were Raped. This is a Ticket That Isn't Even Compassionate to Rape Victims, But Sarah Palin Pays Guys Who Shoot Wolves From Airplanes $150 in Taxpayer Money for Each Front Left Paw. PerverseMcCain not only opposed Biden's legislation, but also has voted against funding it as recently as October 2007. McCain voted against final passage of Biden's legislation. He had supported an earlier version, but on the question of actually making the legislation the law of the land, McCain joined 35 conservative Republicans (and 2 Democrats) and said "no" to ensuring that all women had access to rape exams free of charge.
