Art de Rivers : On Healthwatch ..
Margaret Heywood the sacked nurse (
see the last story) has won back her position after massive UK support by the public that frankly overwhelmed the bureaucrats who tried to give a clear signal that whistleblowing was not worth it ..
Bureau-crush, name it as you will , is a bad culture in the UK and is anti-open-accountability...Clever with it though, and language is the first victim of moral pollution dressed up to look clean as bureau-control cut the heart out of human services . Keep the public happy with controlled image-slop.
Yet , the internet re-democratised the issue of Margaret Haywood's concerns exposing shoddy NHS practice in a hospital.
The old orders of control of media have felt public opinion.
And yes, it was human and had a heart as well as a mind of its own ..
The Facebook campaign which helped Margaret Heywood is closing now and the Royal College of Nurses are off to Twitter... May they enjoy some sunshine in the electronic branches for a while with Margaret Heywood, a nurse who showed she really did care .
Salute to you Margaret .. Chirp well ..
messages&page=1&tid=1163567129663"] 'I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the patient and public interest in my case and would like to thank everyone who has supported me, including the RCN for running my appeal. I found it hugely comforting over this difficult period.'
Margaret
Because of the success of the appeal we will now be closing this group.
Thank you once again for your support over the last few months.
Don't forget you can follow the RCN on http://www.twitter.com/TheRCN
