For many sex education was a cringe making journey through biological diagrams, menstruation, contraception, masturbation and wet dreams. Hardly ever was there any discussion of relationships and how to manage them etc and that it's ok too to say for instance "No - I'm not yet ready in this relationship to have sex". That relationships have not been part of sex education for many schools in the UK might be a reason why teenage pregnancy rates are so high. Hopefully with the roll out of schemes like this one in Leicester across the UK young people will begin to have the emotional as well as the contraceptive tools to avoid getting pregnant.

Youngsters are to be taught about relationships - not just the "nuts and bolts" of biology - as part of a campaign to cut the number of teenage pregnancies.

Education bosses want to improve sex education to reinforce the message that "It is OK to say no".

The Government is concerned about the number of pregnant girls in Leicester, with rates particularly high in the west of the city.

Leicester City Council has almost doubled the amount of time it dedicates to giving advice to staff who teach on the subject.

It wants teachers to give children information about relationships and how to talk to their parents about issues surrounding sex, as well as providing lessons on biology and advice on contraception.

agreed, seems like a rather important aspect of sexual education.
