Report: Katie Holmes Won't Be Getting Alimony From Tom Cruise
She’s on her way to becoming a single woman again, and Katie Holmes finally gave press a brief comment on how she’s holding up since filing divorce papers last week.
The “Mad Money” mommy was with her daughter Suri at a New York City grocery store when she told a reporter, “I’m alright,” regarding her split from soon-to-be-ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Holmes reportedly decided to send Tom packing over issues surrounding the rearing of their daughter, as Katie is decidedly against all aspects of Cruise’s Scientology religion.
For instance, Katie refused to allow Suri to undergo Scientology’s ‘sec checking’ process, a method of ‘locating areas of spiritual distress’ that involves electrodes and an e-meter.
Many ex-Scientologists describe the process as “a mild form of psychological terrorism designed, in part, to get children to report on their parents.”
Attempting to get their minds off recent news, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise were spotted grabbing ice cream in New York City on Tuesday night (July 3).
The adorable pair tried to avoid the swarms of paparazzi as they entered the busy parlor and enjoyed their cold treats together.
Shocking details continue to emerge after the 33-year-old star filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, including a recent report put out by TMZ claiming the former "Dawson's Creek" actress won't be leaving this relationship with full pockets.
Sources say the pre-nup that was signed upon getting married is completely in favor of the "Mission Impossible" star and leaves Katie with nothing more than what she brought to the relationship. In previous reports, it has been speculated that the brunette beauty could walk away with anywhere between $15-20 million, but it looks like those reports are proving false.
Regardless of the funds that come from this separation, sources close to the actress say money is not a concern, explaining, "She's not about the money. She's not that girl. She loves to work," adding, "Money is not that important to her. She makes plenty on her own."
As was previously reported, the "Batman Begins" actress is looking to receive full physical custody of the pair's six year-old daughter and child support.
