NP Rank:
Safe sex advice, Bollywood-style
It is quickly becoming a hit on YouTube among western nations as well.
The music video – in which detailed instructions on how condoms work are communicated through over-the-top Indian song and dance - is the latest attempt to halt the rise of HIV/Aids in a country where sexual disease is still a taboo in many areas.
Titled "Protective Cover", its lyrics include: "I am the condom friend ever useful to you" and "I am made in different colours with fragrance".
The team of sheathed singers continue: "Some men and women say I don't satisfy their desire.
"I am good-natured and provide satisfaction. I am for you, do not neglect me.
"I save you and increase your longevity."
The video was produced by the Nrityanjali academy, a group which uses the performing arts to promote social causes in the state of Andhra Pradesh in southern India.
"Our main target groups are people vulnerable to the HIV virus like sex workers, transsexuals or truck drivers,” said P Narsingh Rao director of the academy."We tour villages in mobile video vans to show the film. The screening is followed by a question and answer session about condom use and sexually transmitted diseases."

This photo was taken in Mamallapuram, TN in February 2006, outside a pharmacy. Cheers to the Tamil Nadu folks behind this campaign!

india is one of the most sexually closed countries in the world. Sex toys are not even allowed in the country. I assume now days they don't consider condom a sex toy anymore. It is great to see a country like that is opening up slowly for sexual freedom

Catchy tune! Wonder if it's on TV. I can just imagine the little kids singing this and doing that dance!
