Ok. I had to get a yardstick and I had to get breakfast. I went to Home Depot because I knew there was a cheesesteak place in the front. I went in for the yardstick and asked my buddy to grab me a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. I came out of the store with a yardstick and a 13" receipt. My friend was holding the bag that had two sandwiches that were WAY bigger than I expected.
This was the greatest breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten.
I had heartburn halfway through the first half of the hogie. I knew instantly that there could be no topping this sandwich, but I think I have had my last sausage, egg, and cheese hogie. I am not sad. I have tasted from the forbidden fruit and now I am comfortable to be cast out into the wilderness, with stories of gluttony that will last for a lifetime.
But if you need this sandwich some morning and you are in Philly it is in South Philly on Columbus Drive. And If you just go a little further south, you will find the greatest lunch sandwich I have ever eaten. Right outside the Loew's hardware at John's Roast Pork. Get either a cheesesteak with grilled onions and mild provalone, or a roast pork with sharp provalone.
