Science agrees, True Love can Last

Scientists have concluded that people can, in reality, have a love that lasts a lifetime.

Out of the couples interviewed when shown a picture of their loved one ten percent had chemical reactions in their brains similar to that which occurs in the early stages of a new romance.

Using brain scans, researchers at Stony Brook University in New York have discovered a small number of couples respond with as much passion after 20 years together as most people only do during the early throes of romance, Britain's Sunday Times newspaper reported.

Of course, this also means that 90% of the couples did not have that sweet chemical bliss when shown pictures of their spouse. But compared to previous research, which suggested that there was no romantic love whatsoever after a decade of togetherness, this is good news.

Regardless, you probably don't need scientists imput to tell you how you feel. Here's hoping we all find that love that lasts a lifetime.

My theory is that what we are missing, we look for our mate to fulfill. This give us temporary euphoria knowing it is within reach. Doesn't last though.

True love is when we are able to fix ourselves first, instead of depending on our loved one to provide it for us; then getting angry at them when they don't measure up.

I'd say ten percent enter into a relationship being emotional healthy first, maybe that is why only ten percent have lasting feelings. Great how they can actually measure it in the brain.

I still get weak in the knees when I am with my husband...

He is the best thing that ever happened to me and I thank my lucky stars every single day that we found each other. The road to find him was long and rough but totally worth it in the end - perhaps because of the conditions of the journey I knew right away that he was the one!
