Sex, Men and Video Tape of Women...

Have you ever wondered was going through the minds of financial titans when they make they take huge monetary decisions or risk?  Well I was discussing this with one of my great friends April Braswell, a Leading Expert in Online Personals, Sex and Romance and the answer I told her was...SEX!

According to a new brain scan study when young men are shown pictures of  an erotic nature that they found appealing,  it was discovered that they were more likely to make larger financial gambles than if they were shown a picture of something else, such as something scary like a spider, a snake or a horrible picture of someone attacked or something of that nature. The same results were repeated when shown something erotic in comparison to something neutral such as a vacuum cleaner,  a rubbish bin or a stapler.

Scans revealed that the same part of the brain responsible for taking financial decisions lit up when shown arousing and sexual pictures.

"You have a need in an evolutionary sense for both money and women. They trigger the same brain area," said Camelia Kuhnen, a Northwestern University finance professor who conducted the study with a Stanford University psychologist.

The research for this is printed in one of the recent editions of the Neuroreport.

The experiment carried out only involved 15 heterosexual young men at The University of Stanford. The study's main focus was on the sex-and-money hub, the V-shaped nucleus accumbens, which sits near the base of the brain and plays a central role in what is experienced as pleasure.

What was shown is that when this hub was activated by the erotic images the men were far more comfortable and in some cases eager to bet high on a random chance game that would earn then 50 pence ( dollar). The study allowed each man to take 50 gambles under the brain scans.

Stanford psychologist Brian Knutson, a lead author of the study, says it is all about the power of emotion and arousal and financial decisions. The trigger does not have to be sex - it could be chocolate or a winning lottery ticket.

"It didn't matter if the sexy woman didn't tell you anything about the odds of winning a roulette game," Knutson said.

"What really matters is that the sexy woman is having an emotional impact. That bleeds over into your financial decisions."

What we can witness in action is more evidence in men of the link between sex and greed which goes back hundreds of thousands of years, connecting to men's evolutionary role as provider and  resource gather to attract women.

This supports further evidence which suggests that men  are more likely to take riskier sexual decisions after watching a pornographic movie. Moreover we also realise that heterosexual men think a lot less about their financial future when shown pictures of pretty women. Have you ever wondered why in all the casinos in Las Vegas there are lots of young attractive females, dressed rather meagerly serving drinks and just generally waking around...?

    Wake UP HAPPY
