silenced by a monster

This picture was taken for an art gallery representing social issues and problems. Body image is a topic that is extremely important to me and I am almost against how people percieve it. I chose eating disorders in general because I believe that many people can relate to the concepts portrayed in these pictures, and to generally show the harsh reality of how the people around us and the media impact how we percieve ourselves.

I love this image its really powerful! what inspiration did you use for the idea? were you influenced by other artists work?

Thank you very much! As for inspiration, I didn't really have any. I knew that I wanted to do a piece on a mental health related issue and I just thought that a lot of people would be able to relate to the concept of this idea..so this is what I decided! I also liked the idea of showing voice through pictures, so this is what I was aiming for.

it's wicked!...i'm doing a photography project at university and were looking into high contrast images - new and old - and the meanings they can hold (if that makes any sense). do you mind if i use your photo as an example in our folder? obviously i will accredit you completely in it. It backs up our research perfectly thats all!? If thats ok please let me know. thanks! (is there a way i can send you my email privately on here? Lisa x

thank you so much, and yeah of course you can use it as long as you're going to give me credit for it. I have no idea if you could send your email privately, but if you want to send me an email at rebecca-jaclynne@hotmail.com, I can send you the bigger version of the picture. :)
