They have experienced such has website traffic and call volume since this recall was announced on September 22, that they have had to increase their call center resources and their bandwidth to accommodate the traffic.

In addition to being able to check on this Similac site if the product you have is being recalled, you can also access the list of recalled lot numbers via this PDF document and on the same PDF at the following sites:

Products affected were sold in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and some Caribbean countries.

Important to note:

All Similac powder formula in rectangular plastic tubs are being recalled, but Similic liquid formulas are NOT part of the recall.

Products not involved include all Abbott Nutrition liquid ready-to-feed and concentrated infant formulas and all powder and liquid specialty formulas, including Similac Expert Care, Alimentum, Elecare, Similac Expert Care Neosure, Similac Human Milk Fortifier and metabolic formulas for inherited disorders.

If you have one of the recalled Similac products, discontinue use of the product immediately and you can now return the affected product to your place of purchase (previously Abbott stated to return it direct to them and not your point of purchase).

At any time you can call Abbott Laboratories at 1-800-986-8850.

If you wish to return your product to Abbott Labs, you can call them or visit their website at www.similac.com/recall to input your information about the recalled products, then they will send you a FedEx box with a return label.

You will then get your reimbursement by mail.
