While Barack Obama’s Transition web site dedicates only two paragraphs to the topic of “Reproductive Choice,” a closer examination of the next president’s stance on the issue reveals much more pro-abortion activity on the political horizon.  Yesterday, one pro-life group launched an effort to Stop the Bailout for Planned Parenthood.

According to officials at the Susan B. Anthony List, abortion groups have submitted a 50-page proposal to the Obama-Biden transition team.  That proposal includes, as its primary objective, securing more than 1.5 billion taxpayer dollars for abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood.

The Abortion Bailout Package includes:

  • $1 BILLION dollars in taxpayer funding for international abortion groups;
  • $700 million in taxpayer funding for “Title X” health clinics (aka your local Planned Parenthood affiliate);
  • $65 million for the UNFPA, an international aid organization connected to coercive abortion as part of China’s coercive one-child policy;
  • Repeal the Hyde Amendment – Vastly expanding federal taxpayer funding for abortions;
  • Include abortion coverage in any taxpayer-subsidized national health care program;
  • Expand taxpayer-funded abortions on military bases;
  • Expand taxpayer-funded abortions through the Peace Corps program; and
  • Expand taxpayer-funded abortions for federal prisoners

To combat the effort, visitors at the Stop the Bailout for Planned Parenthood web site are being asked to sign a petition and to send letters to their U.S. Senators.  The goal?  To help the campaign reach its immediate goal of securing the 41 votes necessary to sustain a filibuster against measures promoting federal taxpayer funding of abortion.

I have no absolute positions on abortion but I do

absolutely oppose using tax dollars to support it.

More abortions for people that can't afford it = less crime in 15 to 20 years.   Look at it like an investment.  Read Freakanomics to get more detail on the Abortion/Crime connection.

Would you approve tax payer dollars for homes for unwed mothers to live in until their babies could be put up for adoption? And pay for their schooling if needed while they lived in them?

Most people don't realize that Planned Parenthood isn't all about abortion, but offering birth control and female medical care for those who can't afford to go to the doctors.

I used Planned Parenthood services when I was young and couldn't afford to go to a doctor...and they saved me once when I had cervical dysplasia...I got excellent care.

Many poor women could die from breast cancer and cervical problems if they couldn't go to Planned Parenthood.

Obama said he wanted more money for education on how to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

The cost to taxpayers for supporting unwed mothers is very high.
