Ridgefield, CT and Indianapolis, IN, October 2, 2012 – Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) today announce data from three pooled analyses for linagliptin at the 48th European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Berlin. The new analyses show linagliptin, alone or in combination with other diabetes therapies, lowered hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c or A1C) in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as in adults with type 2 diabetes with diabetic nephropathy (renal disease).1,2,3 Data from a fourth study found adding linagliptin to a stable dose of basal insulin improved blood glucose control over 52 weeks without an additional risk of hypoglycemia or weight gain compared to placebo.
