Actor Patrick Sawyze has pancreatic cancer but was upbeat in his first US TV interview since being diagnosed even though admitting that he may only have 2 years to live.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest to overcome with only a 5% five-year survival rate but Swayze, who has just finished filming a new TV series called The Beast, whilst noting the chances of survival are currently low, says that he is still dreaming of a future "not lived in the shadow of cancer but in the light"

Actor Patrick Swayze, who has pancreatic cancer, has admitted he may survive only two years.

Speaking in his first US TV interview since he was diagnosed with the disease, the Dirty Dancing star said he was "scared" and "going through hell".

The 56-year-old refused painkillers while working on new TV drama The Beast, and missed only a day-and-a-half of the show's tough filming schedule.

He also denied being on his deathbed and "saying goodbye to people"

Noo!  I hope he powers through.

Dirty Dancing is still one of my favourite movies of all time.  I just watched it again last week.

Lots of people watch that film at Christmas time now - along with The Sound of Music and several other 'classics' - he's being positive.

Such a sad story - he looked so ill in the interview with Barbara Walters.
